How We Get
Compensated
Halsey Financial Group is an independent
firm, allowing us to offer our products and services from a wide variety
of institutions. Presently, clients do not pay fees for
initial consultations or for the personal financial planning provided.
We are paid by the financial institution(s) whose product we recommend
when implementing the client's plan.
How we are paid
Halsey Financial Group is an independent firm which means we are able to shop and find the most suitable products for our clients. Credit union, bank and insurance company products are placed directly with the institution. All of the investment funds that we handle for our clients are provided through Assante Wealth Management Ltd., a large, national mutual fund dealer. This means that our clients have the security of knowing their investments are being held with large, provincially or federally regulated financial institutions with the personalized attention that comes from dealing with a smaller firm.
When a client buys a credit union, bank, or insurance company product from us the institution pays us a fee or commission - there is no cost to the client. When we buy an investment fund for a client we get paid a portion of the management fee charged by the fund manager. All of the investment fund business we do is no-load, meaning there are no up-front charges or declining sales charges. We started this practice several years ago when we realized that these fees were a barrier to effectively managing our client's monies. We are very competitive in how we transact our client's business and believe firmly in a win/win relationship; the client must have access to excellent advice and competitively-priced investments and we need to be paid a fair price for our services.
